All Saints Church, High Wycombe, announces “Seeking the Disabled Christ” – A powerful new art exhibition by Rachel Holdforth
All Saints Church, High Wycombe, will host Seeking the Disabled Christ, a striking exhibition running from 19 October to 27 November.
Seeking the Disabled Christ’: We are hosting an interesting and challenging exhibition of prints by Dr Rachel Holdforth from 19 October to 27 November, which will be open during our usual opening hours. We are used to depictions of Jesus as perfect and strong, yet he was resurrected with his wounds. Through these striking images, Christ is depicted in solidarity with all humanity in all its vulnerability and difference – a powerful critique of the religious norms that often marginalise people with disabilities.
The exhibition is free to attend, open 10am–2pm, Monday to Saturday.
A series of special events will accompany the exhibition:
- An Evening with Rachel Holdforth – Monday 19 October, 7pm An opportunity to explore the exhibition after hours, enjoy refreshments, and hear directly from the artist, followed by a Q&A. Tickets free.
- Panel Discussion: “Seeking the Disabled Christ” in Conversation – Friday 6 November, 7pm Rachel Holdforth will be joined by disabled, neurodivergent and deaf theologians The Revd Hannah Lewis, The Revd Katie Tupling, and Emily Richardson for a rich discussion on faith, God and disability. Tickets £7.
- Lino Print Workshop – Saturday 7 November, 1pm Participants will create their own lino print inspired by themes from the exhibition, learning techniques Rachel uses to express her lived experience. Tickets £40
All Saints Church welcomes the community to engage with this thought‑provoking exploration of theology, art and disability.
