Greetings from Theology Slam, the annual search for the most engaging young voices on theology and the contemporary world, co-organised by SCM Press, Church Times, and HeartEdge. We wanted to remind you that the closing date for Theology Slam 2022 is coming very soon – it is the 6th June 2022. Past entrants will attest to the difference the competition has made to them, with one of our runners up recently tweeting “my life sprung off in an amazing new direction because of Theology Slam. I’m beyond grateful: doing public theology is awesome.” This year our judging panel is exceptional – we’re delighted to have Isabelle Hamley, Anthony Reddie, Sam Wells and Rachel Mann joining us as judges for the Live Final, which will take place as part of the HeartEdge conference in Manchester on September 27th.

All details, including information about how to enter, and details of this year’s seven topics, are available via the Church Times Website - https://www.churchtimes.co.uk/theology-slam-entry-form-2022 . And if your students would like some inspiration, they might like to take a look at the winning talk from the first ever Theology Slam, which is still available to watch on Youtube: Theology Slam: Hannah Malcolm on Theology and the Environment - YouTube

We’re excited to find out who our finalists will be this year, but mostly we pray that the challenge and opportunity to think theologically about the world around them will be a blessing to each person who applies.
